Welcome to my website, where you will find my services, past and present works, socials, etc etc etc

My Work

Here you will find information on my available work and services.

  • I regularly produce unique books/artist’s books that sporadically become available, check back often ;)

There are often blank books I have available that are produced in larger batches.

    See what’s available!

  • Whether it be your favorite book, something you have written, or any vision you dream let’s make it happen. There is limited availability for number of projects per year, get in touch via contact form to start discussion and timing.

  • Do you have a book that needs some protection on your shelf or table? Or an object that ought to be preserved? An enclosure for your works on paper? Custom fitted boxes and enclosures can vary from solely functional to purely decorative based on your needs.

    Examples

  • I am often able to take on repair projects.

If I cannot assist you with a repair inquiry, I will be happy to pass it along to whichever of my colleagues I believe to be the most knowledgable to get your job done.

    Previous work

  • Hand marbled papers are available in single sheets or large scale orders. My marbled papers are made in keeping with historic traditions of the craft as well as modern methods. This means that each piece of paper is unique, in various degrees. Some patterns can be replicated in larger batches whereas some are one of a kind and will sit apart from conformity.

  • Miniatures intrigue me to no end. I aim to make my miniature books as accurately constructed as the full sized. These pieces often are just to satisfy my obsession, though I am available for custom pieces as well.

Who Am I?

My name is Fox Allen Maasch, born and raised in Maine, currently based in Boston, Massachusetts

  • I am a bookbinder by trade, currently in my final year of the bookbinding program at the North Bennet Street School located in the North End of Boston. I’ve completed private lessons with Daniel E. Kelm. I also produce and participate in research on the craft of marbled papers, both in traditional watercolor historic techniques and modern acrylic techniques. I learned marbling through an apprenticeship with Chena River Marblers in Western Massachusetts.

  • My past has crossed many paths, I’ve done a bit of this that and everything in between.

I bound my first book, a basic coptic stitch with printer paper and the covers of a recycled book I found in the garbage, while I was attending the pre-collage program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston the summer of 2012. From there I attended and graduated high school from Waynflete School in Portland, Maine in 2015. This is where I took my first class, titled Word and Image, practice of book arts as a whole, from its content to its form and function. After high school I attended Simmons University and studied both Studio Arts and Chemistry. During my stay at Simmons, I discovered the North Bennet Street School and realized my passions could turn into career. I spent 5 years working in various sectors (from line cook to early childcare to manufacturing parts for space ships and more) to make my dreams come true. I am now finishing my time as a student at NBSS as I grow my business and continually collaborate and produce the finest crafted books for the clients who come my way.

  • Beyond finishing my education at North Bennet Street School, I regularly take on repair projects.

I am the co-director of Heirloom & Heritage alongside my amazing other half, Amor Amenkum.
